Maybe it's because I came into the world ass-backwards, but this made perfect sense to me....no one would dare say, 'she's blonde, so she's good in bed', so why should we equate authoritative resistance with strictly the young and why should it be a sign of immaturity? I've been doing it all my life and I'm....well, ok, I'm not 'mature' but in age only....
I think some of the maturity aspect may come into play with what is being resisted. Blanket defiance is a sign of immaturity. Defying authority with cause, questioning the why's is not.
