I know there's a series of prank calls that circulated widely on cassette tapes in the 80's known as the Mark Knopfler tapes. The guy would prank call people and use the pseudonym Mark Knopfler (the name of Dire Straits' singer/guitarist, although I don't think there's any reference made to the band or music in general; it's just the name he uses). Don't know if this might turn out to be what you're looking for, but here's a link to a page that I believe has some MP3s of some Knopfler calls:
