This is one of the cannon from the
HMS Bounty, which was burned off Pitcairn Island on January 23, 1790. This particular cannon (as I remember there are two on the island), is in Len Brown's front yard. I never met Len, as he and his wife were off the island when I visited, but I stayed in the home of his son-in-law, Steve Christian. The cannons, and
Bounty's anchor (which is in the towns square) were retrieved from the wreck of
Bounty by the National Geographic in January 1957.
