Use the program and dig through the options? Some places to be fond of are File > Page setup, View > Header - Footer , Format > Paragraph. Anyone have anything else??

To be excellent, learn the keyboard shortcuts:
CTRL-B: Bold selected text
CTRL-I: italicize
CTRL-U: Underline
CTRL-X: Cut
CTRL-C: Copy
CTRL-V: Paste
CTRL-A: Selects all text in document
INSERT key toggles overwrite on and off, very important. Gets attention from cute girls too.
Learn how CTRL and SHIFT modify HOME and END. Home will bring you to the beginning of the line, end will bring you to the rear. CTRL-END brings you to the end of the document, CTRL-HOME brings you to the front. SHIFT-HOME or SHIFT-END will select all text to the front or rear of the cursor on the line respectively. CTRL+SHIFT HOME/END will do the same as SHIFT-HOME/END, but to the ends of the document.
