Right, but it is easier to imagine some happening in the brain analogous to our conscious conceptualization of mathematics, and some neurological system creating a word for that happening than it is for consciousness.
And even though I think what I just said has more to do with things, I'll say that in your example our knowledge and vocabulary of mathematics is inspired by things in the physical world, but the word consciousness
seems to be inspired by the non-physical mind.
