Moving Windows from 1 drive to another

I've got 2 hard drives. "C:" has Windows XP, "D:" is for storage. I want to change them around so Windows is on the "D:". Can I just simply copy and paste the contents of "C:" onto "D:" and vice versa, or am I oversimplifying this in some way?

"Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat. "We're all mad here.
I'm mad, you're mad."
"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here."
