Its not hard at all. Open the door in the back of the printer and you will see a black object with a big yellow warning label on it:
WARNING VERY HOT
That is your fuser. On the HP LaserJet 4P there are only two screws holding it in. They bracket the fusing assembly to the frame at the bottom of the fuser.
Its hard to describe without pics, but I'd be willing to bet you could find a service manual on ebay for real cheap. The service manual, not the user manual, will walk you through step by step on any maintenance you need to ever do on the printer.
