My bf and I are apart today, but we "celebrated" on the weekend... just the same as we "celebrate" every weekend together!
I made the rule this year that we could ONLY give each other valentine cards and nothing else... I did not want to incur more spending for either of us. He broke the rules a little and got me a bunch of tulips, which I let him get away with...
but otherwise I think we managed not to get sucked into the plastic-hearts-and-chocolate commercial orgy. I hope we can continue this tradition.
Not that I would mind being sucked into a chocolate orgy... hmm.
