I think you've hit it right on the head; nVidia has really become Linux friendly, and from what I'm hearing, the performance is astounding. I've got a 3 year old Diamond Viper II that is not a real good choice for Linux; as soon as I can do it, I'm replacing it with an nVidia card; I'm not a gamer, but I want to support companies that are supporting Linux.
