An intern is a first year resident for whatever specialty he/she is studying. It's just what they call them for the first year. After that they are referred to as residents the rest of the time. An attending is a someone who has finished their residency and is working as well as supervising the residents, interns, etc. I'm sure there are more details that I don't know about though, because I'm not a doctor and I'm not in med school.
