Am I the only one who wishes the media wouldn't raise our expectations so high? Every outlet, from the Sun Tabloids to the CBC, is going on and on about how we're going to win the "MOST GOLD MEDALS EVAR!". Its no wonder several athletes have been avoiding the spotlight.
Not to be too cynical, but It seems we have at least one choker per games (Perdita Felicien in Athens comes to mind) and the huge media build up only feeds my sense of impending doom.
Given the shadow of Ben Johnson, corrupt figure skating judges and other scandals, I'm always a little on edge when I watch the games. I guess it's just part of the drama, so I'm hoping for the best with my teeth clenched.
