OK, I was gonna post my usual smart-ass remark about the All-star Dead Band, but I had a random thought (as I get older, I have a LOT of those; it's starting to scare me.) When the original "Blues Brothers" movie came out, I was thrilled by the music (the movie was OK. just OK) It was a treat to watch the great R&B artists playing roles in the film, because I've been a huge blues fan for YEARS; I know that R&B and Blues are different genres, but most of the really great bluesmen (and -women) had died before that film was made, so good R&B is a logical second choice. Anyway, I'm babbling here, but I'm coming to a point about dream super-groups- don't rush me!! When I heard that "Blues Brothers 2000" was being made, I kinda cringed; the Blues Brothers without John Belushi seemed pretty lame (and it was; the story SUCKED!) But the super-group in that film was a DREAM!! The "Louisiana Gator Boys" was probably the best musical group that could have been assembled ANYWHERE at that time; some of the greatest musicians alive participated, and I got goose-bumps watching the film the first time. If you've blown off the movie as lightweight, WATCH IT!! There's a real good possibility that nothing like it will ever happen again.
And that's my dream super-group.
