Tricky CD-R problem
Hey,
well I've got a problem with my cd-r and im hoping someone has some ideas on how to fix it. Its just going unreasonably slow
My original cd-r drive ran fine for a good 2 years, writing up to its maximum speed of 48x everytime. then last year, after not writing anything for a few months, suddenly it has problems. I notice the record buffer is constantly being drained where that never happened before. Of course this causes the buffer underrun to kick in and it slows the recording down. the buffer is oscillating between empty and full every second or so, so you can imagine how badly this is affecting the recording. So far I havent detected any dead disks, but the speed is less than half of what it should be.
My first thought was nero was responsible, but every other program showed the same performance. Now a few days ago I decided to get a DVD recorder as they were cheap enough, But annoyingly my brand new DVD drive is showing exactly the same symptoms as my CD R drive, whether I am writing a DVD or CD the same thing happens, causing the process to be agonisingly slow and probably not as reliable. I am hoping to be able to fix this without needing to buy any new hardware and if possible not reinstalling windows.
So I come to you, can you please help me.
