In my opinion, the only way to get these auctions up into the big bucks is to get them posted on sites like Fark and their ilk.

The problem there is that often you'll get jackasses bidding in the millions of dollars, which attracts the attention of ebay employees resulting in the auction being pulled.

EDIT: and $13 staring bid for a toenail? Come on!
