What drives me nuts? well it's a short trip to nutsville for me- so it doesn't take much...
1. People who feel the need to nitpick grammar or spelling in chat/IM... gimme a break people, it's one thing to be a 15 year old and talk in Leetspeak but typos happen -- get over it... no one has perfect grammar or spelling.
2. People who nitpick use of some shortened forms of words-- like hashbrowns, in chat I will say gonna, or hafta or kinda- i talk like that - unless I'm in a proper business meeting, i wouldn't never say i'm going to go to this - I would say I'm gonna do this - is it proper grammar? no. do i care? No... I'd call it comfortable speak.
3. People who get pissy when i don't use capital letters - I'm generally typing fast... and i can type faster without the use of the caps key -- or punctuation... did you miss my point by not having me punctuate? No - didn't think so - get over it.
4. My sense of humor does not translate at all into chat or IM - I'm a smart ass, and a wise acre... smilies don't help -- facial expressions do...
5. Blowhards... I come across waaaay too many of those...
6. It bears repeating because it just happened not 5 minutes ago - random stranger comes up on AIM - now my AIM name is the first letter of my first name and my last name - it's not anything cute like DizzyBlonde or SexyMomma or whatever - it's professional, my profile is professional as well - -well except the part where i say I enjoy tormenting little boys who ASL me... I guess that's seen as a challenge
Five sentences in to chatting- i was asked for a picture (nope no can do) or what do I look l ike (I could tell you, but I can promise you wouldn't like the response) and well clearly MachoManxyz123abc only chats with pretty people (I saw his profile pic - it's good to think you could get a pretty person...
there are a few people I enjoy chatting with - I like it for customers because it saves a phone call - and I can usually take a few moments to give an answer - but to just jump on random people - I still maintain that it's rude...
