I'm hoping this might be answered easily within this thread rather than starting my own, especially since there are already a few people discussing UU.
This is something I've been interested in of late. I was raised Baptist, and many of my relatives are Ukrainian Orthodox. I was deeply steeped in the Christian faith, but as I gained my logical wits, I questioned very strongly the teachings I had been presented with. Currently, I'm a strong spiritualist. I believe in much of the Jewish and Christian ways, but also believe that the ways of most organized religions have as many good bases, and that in the end, no organized religion truly gets it 100% right. As such, I've shied away from church for many years. I pray now and again, try to lead a good life, and thirst for knowledge and understanding. After my son was born, I decided to start looking into some brick and morter religious places of worship, both for guidance and for fellowship for my family.
Does UU fit the bill for what I've said so far? I don't remember much of my Baptist upbringing, but the Orthodox side was far to black and white, cut and dry for my beliefs. Sadly, I have an intolerance for intolerance. What do you good folk think? Thanks in advance!
