I have been doing research on these for a while now and I really like the looks of the Magellan Explorist series. They are rugged and waterproof. The lower priced models just have built-in base maps with no way to update or upgrade your maps, but the higher priced ones have pc cable connection and SD card slots. I will probably purchase an Explorist 500 North America in the next few months.
