This is the number one reason why we should beef up our military.
We can never out spend the US in an arms race, but that isn't the point. Protecting our sovreinty in the north and preparing to defend against incursions seeking to take our natural resources are solid reasons (granted we already rolled over on oil when we signed NAFTA but make no mistake, water will be the next thing the US comes calling for and if we don't give them what they want, they could just take it).
