I see myself as being a lead guitarist. It's just what I do best, mostly because I'm classically taught.
To this day I still don't like using picks. I'll do it, but I'd rather fingerpick.
In any case, re: bass, it seems complicated when you've been reading treble clef all your life, but if you actually sit down and take the time to learn it it's not all that complicated. I played trumpet for years before switching to baritone and had to learn bass clef because I'd occasionally get stuck with a trombone part. At first I was lost, then I started to figure it out.
Just remember that good boys deserve fudge always (GBDFA instead of EGBDF).
