My opinion:
When I lived in the US for a little while, there was a little bit of joking around about Canadians. But most of the time it never went farther than that. There are a few people that honestly think that we're the scourge of the century. Some of it is misinformed opinions and the rest could be hatred. The same goes for Canadians. Americans are the bad people, they like to make war... blah blah blah. I think it involves that Canadians don't want to be categorized "the same" as Americans and vice versa. We want to be seen as two different unique cultures. And this doesn't exist outside either of our countries. Canada and the US are the only ones making this debate... no one else. Canada within the world community is entirely different. The US is just as different.
If you really look at it, the US has some similarities with Canada. What those people who bash Canada don't see is that what they make fun of it. The same goes for Canada bashing the US. I was made fun of for being Canadian when I lived in the US and I was made fun of for being American when I moved back to Canada. Both bashings have no real proof for making a legitimate agrument. There's aspects of both I do not like and some aspects that I do like. I think it's a select few people that want to make this a war because they make fun of what they do not understand or use whatever "proof" for ignorant arguments. IMO it's all a bunch of crap, the same stuff that Britian vs. France, seeing which was superior. Can you tell that I've had enough of both?
