My suggestion? Dont skimp on the combat knives.
I can count on one hand the number of guys who buy "decorative knives". However I cant begin to count the number who own, or are looking for, a good combat knife.
They come in a number of variations, everyone looks for something special. Marines are absolutely in love with K-Bar knives (and in return are hard to find). Hunters always prefer to have a good heavy military knife as opposed to generic store bought because the thick leather is tough to cut at times (especially in the cold when the skin toughens to insulate).
I suggest having the combat knives in one section, and learn the history of each one so that you can quickly answer anything about them (in case they're history buffs). People will know what they're looking for before they enter the store (WWII buffs wont generally buy a Legolas sword, and Medievalists generally wont buy a K-Bar).
Leave enough room for them to wander around, and corners in general are a bad idea. People dont like being in corners, it's more confined and the lighting is generally much poorer. I understand chances are you wont be able to avoid that, so it might be a good idea to put your items you dont expect to sell as well except those who know exactly what they want (the big baheamouth swords).
Yeah swords look cool and bring people in, but chances are they'll be leaving with a knife.
