Talkin' Bob Dylan
I know it's silly to say any one of Bob Dylan's albums is really better than another, it's all just opinion. So what are your favorite Dylan albums. Here is my list at the moment:
1. Highway 61 - When Bob went electric. The whole way through your flying in and out of heaven and hell and if your not careful you'll forget how to breath. Fav tracks - Tombstone blues, Desolation Row
2. Bob Dylan - His first album, mostly his own take on old folk compositions, the energy in his playing and singing is really something on this. A young, innocent sound and you never hear it again. Fav tracks - Pretty Peggy-O, House of the Rising Sun
3. Bringing it all back home - A good combination of seriousness and playfulness. 'It's Alright Ma' has got some of my favorite lyrics. '115th dream' lets you ease up without letting go. And 'She belongs to me' talking about how he felt about all that was happening to him as he started moving away from his folk roots and heading into some new territory. Fav tracks - all of the above
4. Blood on the tracks - This ones hard for me to listen to, if you go through all his albums like one big story this one is him saying goodbye to everything he's done so far, no looking back, no dreaming of glory days. It's tough like Bob himself. Fav tracks - Idiot wind, Shelter from the storm
I'll stop there and try to forgot about all his 'bad' albums. The ones he purposely made with junk just to get people away from him. It must of been tough Bob, best we can do is say thanks.
