The motherboard is a MSI K7T Turbo2 with a 300W PS. I'm partial to the nVidia line as I've never had any trouble with them and the particular games that will be run on the computer tend to prefer Geforce cards.

That looks like a good choice. I wouldn't recommend anything too good, because a 300W PSU won't support much in the way of new cards (general rule of thumb nowadays seems to be 380W+).
