1) This is why you're supposed to avoid burning bridges and making things messier than they were originally when dumping someone. You generally can't cut people out of your life 100%, try to place nice. We're all in the same sandbox.
2) It's not complicated. Don't continue having sex with her because you'll start up the cycle again. Stop it and stop it now. You can continue to provide emotional support for her family issues, but cut the sex and potential-future-re-romance because neither has worked for you in the past and that's not going to change.
