Police look for bozos who stole clown statue
Quote:
LINCOLN (AP) - An 8-foot Ronald McDonald statue was stolen from a Lincoln woman's yard over the weekend.
Police are interested in talking to any alleged Hamburglars or anyone else who had anything to do with swiping what is a treasure to Marie Siefker.
Ronald, with his arm outstretched and waving, had greeted Siefker every day for 15 years when she looked in her yard. She said she's devastated by the Saturday theft.
"I don't know who could be so mean," she said.
The statue is valued at a few thousand dollars, Siefker said.
"I never looked at him as money. He was more sentimental to me," Siefker said. "A person could have him for 1,000 years, and the sentimental value would not be the same."
Siefker is a longtime McDonald's employee. When one of the stores was redecorated about 15 years ago, Ronald and a Grimace statue were up for grabs.
The person who was supposed to pick up Ronald didn't, so Siefker took him.
"When I found out he was stolen, it's like having Christmas things taken or destroyed," Siefker said. "It just bothered me so bad. . . . He was a keepsake to me and a great joy for the grandchildren when they came over."

Perhaps...just perhaps, the police have to look no further than Marie's neighborhood association? I'm sure there's been a bounty on that lawn ornament, for years.
