Cybermike, from my experience, your views wont change... but you will feel more confident to express them.
Worst case scenario, if you are forced to re-think a view, you will will also have/find the self-confidence to approach it, where at the moment you are even scared to approach yourself.
You are right when you want to fix your fear-based approach, trust yourself...
