That's not that expensive, and seems like a pretty cool toy. In any case, re: the quoted material, I particularly enjoyed this as a child. On behalf of Santa, my Mom would lay out the gifts for my two brothers and I in a spectacularly warm fashion. Not kill the surprise but make the whole situation just look nice. In any case, with whatever Santa brings, I'd recommend doing the same.
(Mind you, gifts that we gave to each other and received from others would stay wrapped, and on Christmas Day would be opened in our 'nuclear' family)
