i'm using a dell trinitron monitor now - the lines are noticable on a white background, but only barely.
i think the best quality monitor that i have personally used was the hitachi ultrascan 753 (they're sure to have better models by now)
the screen was pretty, flat, and sharp, plust the lines weren't as noticable. great monitor!
