Being labelled "racist"......
So at work I hold myself and my coworkers to high standards. I do not hold my co workers to any standard that I myself cannot meet..... makes me a prick at times but that's just the way I am.
Anyway Saturday night, a black (his race makes no difference to me but it does to him as I will show) co-worker decides to disappear at extreme long intervals. Which means while I am supposed to be charting and doing individual consultations and helping clients, I am instead watching the phones and doing his work. He chose to be up front watching tv and talking to another co-worker, not do his job.
When I approached him to tell him he needed to do his job, I was called a racist because "you (meanining me) wouldn't treat a white co-worker that way". Which is bullshit because I do. If someone doesn't do their job I call them on it because I take pride in my job and if I can't do my job because a co-worker won't do theirs I'll get pissy and bitch about it.
So my question is, is it racist to hold a co-worker of a different race to the standard of the job?
Or is it not more telling who the true racist is when they are the ones bringing race into it, to justify their laziness and refusal to do the job to the best of their ability?
PS this bothers me in that I really want to know if I am supposed to have a standard for white co-workers and one for black..... seemingly he expects me to.

I just love people who use the excuse "I use/do this because I LOVE the feeling/joy/happiness it brings me" and expect you to be ok with that as you watch them destroy their life blindly following. My response is, "I like to put forks in an eletrical socket, just LOVE that feeling, can't ever get enough of it, so will you let me put this copper fork in that electric socket?"
