I've never really met up with someone online for sex, perse, but I have had sex with someone I met online: my fiancee, ophelia783. We met on a bodymodification site, though, and were friends for quite a while before she first came down to visit. Things went well enough that we ended up sleeping together, and after that started dating.
Now we've been together for almost a year, with almost a dozen in-person visits under our collective belts.
I do have friends that go for the online one-night-stands, though. It CAN work, but you have to be very, very careful.
