I’m in the same boat right now. I’m at a new job, working as an editor. I take over the section officially in February so right now I’m trying to get writers corralled. Until they write something, I have nothing to do. The previous editor is handling the January edition, so she’s typing away like a mad person. The editor in chief told me my activity would be almost nil the first couple of weeks.
All I can think to do is write the great American novel, or surf endlessly. I’ve written all of maybe 3 quarters of a page since I started, mostly blurbs for our web page.
Since I’m new, I have no “buddies”. So while the others wile away the hours visiting, I just sit here like a plug, and occasionally take a bathroom break. Pooping is the highlight of my day.
