they have wanted to expand midway as well (more than they have already) they wanted to get rid of 55th street altogether by the airport to expand the airport. Why do you think the people get all up in arms about eminant domain and the city taking there houses away giving them hardly anything in compensation for their property.
I said that original comment half heartedly... not so much a joke, but as to spur discussion. I realize it was an accident but in this politically correct paranoia sue happy society we live in, you know someone will say that.
Some politician will say "this is proof that we need to spend the money to make the runways longer... and while we're at it, we will spend another billion dollars of your tax money to reinforce all the retaining walls as well.
Its like this city doesnt care about shit until something happens and when something tragic does happen, they care too much and do needless spending to show the city "They are doing something about it"
(See porch collapse)
Porch collapse was 30 idiot drunk college kids jumping up and down on a balcony and it collapsed. Maybe it was structually unsound but it was by FAR the kids fault for having a. too many people on it and b. messing around on it.
"hey this thing is shaking... john, bill, greg, get out here check this out, wooooooo" crash boom...
Then the city has to screw with EVERY SINGLE building in chicago to make sure "An incident like this doesnt happen again"
i hate this society...
