You know, I'd never heard of the "switcheroo" but damn it sounds like a good idea..
That said, try running your xbox in a VERY open space. Mine at home throws that stupid "dirty or damaged" erorr all the time if I leave it in the entertainment center. For some reason, getting hot tends to make the drive less reliable..
