Due to dust on the lens and having dropped it several times over the last ten years or so, I can only play games on my original playstation if I turn it upside - down. Try that with yours, it might just work.
Either that or get a 360 when the supply/bug problems have dried up and do whatever it is that M$ makes you do to play your old games...
