yes you can treat it as a seperate program or use it as a media player.
its very easy to use but does not organize music well (the program that is) it always puts it in alphabetical order by artist and album, and you have to make a playlist and put it in the right order to do it.
you can also use windows media player easily and not have this problem.
oh and their player is awesome.
