a) The paper bag works with or without any particular kind of additional fruit or vegetable... just the 'cado in the bag is all it takes.
b) I'm a purist... in fact, half the time if it's just for me, I eat the avacado with a bit of salt before I have time to make guac out of it.
c) For guac, I agree simple is better... no need for tomato or onion. A bit of cilantro and cayenne (or ancho chili powder is good as well), a touch of salt, and a squeeze of lime (or other citrus) juice to preserve color and give a bit of tang to it.
