Gentler is always better, and I recommend Cetaphil (reg, not for oily skin, regardless of your type) and Beauty Without Cruelty (another fantastic line).
For a cheap exfoliant I add baking soda to my cleanser every once in a while. You can also buy jojoba beads and do the same.
I do NOT use the ground up apricot seeds or whatever scrubs. the scrubby stuff in there is rough (actually has rough edges), and can tear up your skin, and actually make acne and other skin conditions much worse. Jojoba beads are shperical, no edges, and work great.
I am a HUGE skin care whore. And it shows.
