I can't tell you how many times my hubby has told me to do this...silly Marines....
Anyway, I'm right handed, but my brother's best friend growing up was a lefty, and I remember watching in fascination as he wrote. He would stick his elbow out and curve his hand downward so that the side of his hand wouldnt smudge his ink as he went. He refused to use pencil because of the inevitable smudge-factor.
