I have to suggest Front Mission 3 also. I played FM3 first and thought it was much better than FM4. I dunno what someone who played FM4 first would think about FM3 though..
Fire Emblem for the GBA has been getting some great reviews and I'm looking forward to playing it. It's on my xmas list
