The NFL players unions has the right on an annual basis to vote out an arbitrator. Turns out the date was up in the last couple days. When the results of the arbitration were released, the NFLPA immediately voted Mr. Bloch "off the island", in other words fired him. To me, if this is true the NFL has another serious problem to work on. Arbitrator would have a serious personal conflict of interest in ruling against a player in the future.

If that is true that is so very wrong and you are right, it promotes self preservation to the point of never ruling against the union.
I would hope in the next collective bargaining contract the owners take that off the table and tell the union to go "f" themselves. Arbitrators are supposed to be 100% neutral and therefore that is why they can moderate and make unbiased decisions. This would stack the cards heavily in the unions favor....... not right.
I am pro union but abuses such as these are what give unions bad names.
