Relating to Calgary area, any idea other than the Humane Society, where to adopt pets?

I'm thinking of getting my Dad a dog since he's spoke of getting one after our Golden Retriever passed away over a year ago. But I'm not sure if its the right time of the year to get one since its gonna get too cold, he's not willing to let animals in the house (We used to have a housedog but he shitted EVERYWHERE and was thrown out, eventually my sister took it with her when she moved) and we don't really have much of a place for it other than the barn (The doghouse is a mess)
