Well in case anybody is interested....

I went to a car audio specialist place and there was some young prick there who gave me a bunch of attitude... wasn't interested in giving me any information or prices etc... so I looked at the head units found one I like and bought it on ebay... it's wrong I know, but the only service he was providing was having the units for me to see, I actually had to get online to find the specs I wanted because if he actually knew anything he wasn't going to share it with likes of me....

I ended up going with the Clarion DXZ845MC ... I was initially against the 'big' name brands but I have to say this one had beautiful sound on it... better than what I had heard on any of the pioneers... maybe this is because it's a $700 player and the most expensive pioneer anybody carried was $300... also it looks really nice... and supposedly supplies 31 W per channel average which is 30% higher than most of the others...

anyway that deck, 4 Infinity coax speakers, shipping and wiring harness ran a total of $320 on ebay (MSRP of like $1100)... I'm not worried about professional install, I figure with 6 years of electrical engineering training I can connect some wires without too much issue...

Thanks for everybodies help... sorry if I didnt exactly go for some of your advice... but I went with what my ears and wallet told me...
