That's an interesting take... why because they don't involve battles? Casablanca, among other things is a metaphor for America choosing to join the war against the Nazis (this isn't even mentioning the fact that it was set in WWII). As for Life is Beautiful, it is WWII seen from another perspective... it's like saying Schindler's List isn't a WWII film.
