Having been to Canadian strip clubs.. I can tell you that getting whacked in the face with fake ones is a bit harsh - it was dizzying, and not in the good way!
I think it has to do with the size difference.
And Ben is right - you can't touch like that in the US. Nor do they do so much of the 'pick up a dollar with their cooter' tricks like in Canada.
