I "get" a lot of guy movies, like The Godfather, but I think I'm lacking some essential quality needed to fully appreciate these.

"Two shot twist ending" - That's a good way to describe those movies.

You're absolutely right about being able to connect to the main idea. I think that goes for a lot of media. People need to be able to relate to begin to enjoy it. For me,
Fight Club describes my perspective well. This exchange of dialogue has always struck me.
