Sony's argument is that this isn't a danger because, in response to the exposure, they're working with AV companies to make sure anything hiding behind the rootkit besides their own code will be flagged.
I'm surprised Sony Music is this far out of touch. Their damage control so far has only made the problem worse. The press certainly hasn't been kind.
