Mal already said everything I wanted to say, but I also wanted to let you know how lucky you are when all is said and done. Regardless of your real parents, you DO have a family that loves you and cares for you. Value that.
I've been in Sissy's shoes and it's not a fun place to be. Watching someone you love suffer is incredibly hard. Trust me--even after you do start to get well, she won't be able to focus. Let her take care of you. She can return to school when you're entirely better. She'll be better off that way.
I also wanted to tell you that my mother also had a hard time with her parents. Her mother was a master manipulator, and for years my mother suffered all kinds of emotional abuse at the hands of her mother (even well into her 40s, my mother put up with her mother). When she finally walked away from that poisonous relationship, she was so much better. Just because they're your parents doesn't mean you have to put up with their crap. Either they'll get over it or they won't. Don't put your life on hold and wait for it to happen. It's just a waste of time.
Get well soon, Gilda, and thank you for returning to our community so soon after your accident. We're blessed to have you as a part of the TFP family.
