i was planning on buying a large hard drive, sticking it in an external drive case, hide it where i can't damage it, and run a long cable from it to my laptop in my room, for extra external storage since my laptop has some limited space.... i was also considering doing an DVD-RW drive instead for unlimited media storage....
now i have an idea of combining that idea with wireless technology, soo i wouldn't need the cord, the drive would just be there always... is there anyway i can use wireless technology to connect to that remote drive in a external case? would it be worth it? fast enough? or would i just be better off in everyway to stick with a cable
i know IR technology would let you set your computer down next to a printer and connect rather than using a USB drive..... here's a page of random IR products like that...
