The electrical harness connectors on those are a pain. Look under the hood around the steering column. They aren't well protected and contacts collect moisture and corrode easily. Most people I've known just replace one at a time until a few go out and then replace the entire plug, or hardwire all the connections. I can't say your problema are a harness issue, but it's something to consider for any function that runs through the firewall. Grounds or a few other lines will disable the engine if the right contact loses continuity.
