I don't think you can legislate things that go on in people's heads. We punish acts, not thoughts. Child porn doesn't create the propensity for pedophiles to victimize children. I acknowledge that it is indeed problematic to have that kind of stimulation available for people with weaknesses for it. Look at alcohol, for example. FAR more people are victimized by drunk drivers than by sexual predators, yet access to alcohol isn't curtailed at all for society in general, despite the great loss of lives and property due to alcoholism. If there was an exception to made, I'd make the first exception for serious sexual predators, due to higher rates of recidivism, but I'm not ready for that legal leap yet.
